BlackBerry Storm 2 due next month?
Perhaps it should come as no surprise, given the pervasiveness of recent leaks, but word has it that the clickscreen-free BlackBerry Storm 2 could be hitting shelves as early as June, and no later than July. Word comes from Mr. BlackBerryOS.com himself, who got word from an "insider" who has proved reliable in the past. She says the internal deadline for training tech support is end of month, and while such an early followup seems like a bit of a raw deal for original Storm buyers, it doesn't come as too much of a shock. Is it just us, or is this kind of shaping up into a "phone heavy" summer? Maybe it's just the sunstroke.

PHONE WARRRRRRZZZZ!!!!
The Storm may be the worst phone I have ever laid hands upon. The click/touch screen was just terrible. Blackberry needs more than a P.O.S. click screen to beat the iphone.
This one gets rid of the click touch screen.
The Pre fittin to get caught in a category 32 iStorm next month!
PS 3-2 (3rd iPhone, 2nd Storm)...
don't worry guys, my women's intuition tells me this rumor is FALSE.
category 32 iStorm... clever.
I think REM should rename the PRE to PRAY because that is what they need to do. Their survival depends on the success of the Pre.
Oops, PALM, not REM (which was supposed to be RIM... fail..)
Let the anger ebb and flow, bitches. Let it flow.
HAHA, I'm laughing my a$$ off at your comment... I don't know why.. I just am! Thanks!
ZOMG this blows the iPhone and Pre away!!!!
Oh wait, it's the Storm. Move along. Move along. This is not the JesusPhone you were looking for.
the PRE is the jesusPhone, remember?
I don't want a Jesus phone. I want a Buddha phone...
I love June, summer, girls in short skirts and all the new tech a geek could want
I like girls that wear abercrombie and bitch, I'll take a Pre if I had one wish, cuz ive been tied to my centro since last summer.
lol a kid I work with actually tries to say the click screen is the reason the Storm is better than the iphone. I try so hard not to laugh.
Well, some people like it a lot.
If he likes is more, then it is better to him and those that like it.
After using it for a month, I like the click screen. With beta firmware and some time, the Storm ain't that bad. It's biggest problem is the slow bugginess, not the concept imo.
I'm not gonna say that it's the best thing ever, I'd switch in a heartbeat if Verizon had a decent phone with Android, but it's not a complete failure.
I would agree with that kid.
Yeah, why do you have to make fun of the kid for having an opinion dissimillar to your own?
I'm guessing he's bigger than you, so rather say shit to his face, you come on the internet and make fun of him.
really? it was the clickscreen that fugged the storm? i thought it was the software. releasing a new storm only admits to defeat IMO.
how exactly does it admit defeat? Apple did the same thing and most of the features in the second should have been in the original (specifically 3g)
the iPhone 3G is an update, it added features not take out which is simply evolving a product line. When you take out a feature, especially something that was so heavily advertised as being revolutionary, you are admitting you probably screwed up.
Oh wow, a company that will admit it's wrong and take away something they originally thought was good.
Sounds like a good thing to me.
You're the type of tiny wittle man who'd be upset either way.
Begun, The Phone Wars have.
lol of the day.
Indeed, The force is strong in this one.
Indeed...
The signal is strong with this one.
Now..please HTC..tough pro2.
This summer is gonna rock.

is the rumors are true then there's gonna be a hell of a summer palm pre,the new iphone ,the storm 2,nokia n97...what else am i forgetting ?
u forgot htc hero, samsung i7500, archos android device, htc magic/sapphire ......etcetera etcetera
I'm hoping this is true- I've been waiting for a solid blackberry to purchase with Verizon's great network. Going to wait for the reviews and if they stack up then it's going to be a go...finally.
Everyone's leaking..... com'on Tegra?
Wow, a new Pre, iPhone and Storm.
Seriously, I smell BS.
This phone will not release in neither June nor July. It's too soon in my opinion.
Just my 2 cents.
And ps. Why is engadget 100% on the whole click screen debacle. It has not been confirmed yet if the click screen is gone or will be replaced by some other type of similar tech. In other words, I thought it was still a rumor.
I just don't understand how Blackberry spent so much development time and money for a clickscreen feature they are willing to dump in less than six months flat. Shouldn't intermal research have told them it wasn't what people wanted?
It makes no sense to just throw away that feature. They spent tons of money on researching and developing it.
Everyone knows it's the software implementation that has a problem not the damn screen. I'm not saying the screen is perfect but the software was definitively more to blame.
Instead of doing away with it they could update the click feature or make it better in some way and most importantly updated the damn software.
It's a sunk cost. They might be better cutting their losses and moving on instead of trying to make the click-touch a desireable feature.
No one said it's gone. This could just be a parallel phone that gets those people on Verizon to buy a large screen blackberry that wouldn't have because they didn't like the click. I wish they would have just officially released the updates to the current Storm, but as long as we all get OS5 on it this summer, I'll be indifferent.
Because it Sucked. That. Much.
Yes, it really did.
There's a storm-a-brewing!!!!!!!!
Am I the only one that liked the click-screen? Sure, I thought it could have been tweaked (definitely around the sides of the screen), but to me it made it feel more like a button than a touchscreen. What they should do is find a way to do localized touchscreen clicking. Now THAT would be awesome.
To me it was the software that was the problem. If you run the updates, the click screen becomes a great selling point and a reason to actually prefer the original to a non-clickable screen blackberry. Regardless, it's an addiction enducing phone that will sell. RIM will score more consumers.
I like my Storm just fine with the click screen, like many have said it's the OS NOT the hardware that is the issue
And to the iMorons, it was not meant to be an iPhone clone but something else, so I could care less if it's not "iPhoneish" enough for you
my upgrade has BEEN due, but none of the crappy phones from verizon cath my eyeball. gotta wait to see if this is the one
Pumping out phones in a period more often than a year apart is a bit too much for most people. The Storm will have been out maybe 8 months or so? Yearly releases are a lot better.
There's nobody telling you that you need to buy every phone from a company. Look at Nokia, new phones all the bloody time, doesn't seem to hamper them the slightest.
Ditching the click screen is a wise move. I remember being all excited for the Storm when I read about it. I unfortunately have to have Verizon and a BB due to my job. Owning the 8830 and hating it just made the Storm seem so much more attractive.
I finally got my hands on one at a local store to play with it before buying it. Wow what a piece of JUNK it was. I walked away and never looked back.
IF and this is a VERY BIG 'IF' they manage to roll out this Storm2 with no click screen and more importantly enough CPU power to handle is OS properly it could turn out to be a hit. The lag and OS crashes that plague the Storm now combined with the click screen made it an epic fail. Regardless of sales numbers.
Ok, here we go:
