It literally makes no sense. Why would your *not* having solid word of the Touch Pro2 heading towards the US be a blow to anyone, let along hopelessly selfish WinMo users... and why are they hopelessly selfish and how does that relate to this phone? First, Windows Mobile 6.1 was a vast improvement over prior versions, take it from someone who's been using Windows based devices since it was called Windows CE. I've also owned Symbian phones and GLADLY converted to a Win 6.1 based Treo over a year ago because I need my phone for BUSINESS. Nothing compares to a WinMo smartphone for business - NOTHING. All my other applications that my phone does - media, web browsing, photos, games, etc are just fine the 10% or less time that I use my phone for them.

Second - and this is my BIG point here people - the next gen of Windows Mobile phones are going to be WinMo 6.5 with a WinMo 7 ready OS!!! That makes my mouth water just thinking about it... When I upgraded my WinMo 5 phone's OS up to WinMo 6, all bets were off. It improved my phone 1000% and the difference was incredible over the old OS I had been using. WinMo 6.5 is going to be a tweak of the current OS but will also prepare these next-gen phones for a free upgrade to Windows Mobile 7 around the end of this year. Last I checked, Symbian hasn't upgraded from S60 since.... ummm years now?

Lastly, compatibility plays a HUGE factor in upgrading my phone. As I said, I use my phone for BUSINESS and so I need compatibility and for all my data to transfer from phone to phone as simply and correctly as possible. I could never get my Nokia to transfer my data correctly and there were never enough data slots for all my customers/contacts. ActiveSync works perfectly, via bluetooth or cable and I've never lost even one file during a transfer. Add the fact that no matter what WinMo device I pick up, I know intuitively where everything is and how everything works and that's a big plus in my book. I have looked at all the Samsung, LG, Sony, Nokia, Moto, etc. phones out there (including the iPhone since I'm on AT&T) and none of them are powerful enough for MY personal needs in a phone. I think that most of the critics here seem to overlook that last statement - that we all need phones that suit OUR OWN personal needs. We all want something different but that doesn't mean that what someone else likes or wants is crap because it isn't what we would have bought.

So, Windows Mobile haters - take a hike if you don't like the OS. For those of us who wouldn't use anything else, it's a godsend. I can't wait for the next gen series of devices and you can be I'll be standing in line for one of the new WinMo 6.5 phones as soon as they start hitting the market!

Michael

Comments on HTC Touch Pro2 hits virtual shelves, unlocked and ready for action

I just don't get why we can't have such a phone for Android.
