If you don't like Linux, don't use it. If Linux doesn't run the programs you want (in my opinion it runs everything just fine, from the program equivilants of MS products all the way to Windows products like CS2/3, etc., infact running Windows programs BETTER than on Windows..just my experience though; my computer is badass), then don't use it.

It's true, Linux isn't for everyone (yet). Distros are just now getting a little bit of a foothold in the market (amazing that, since they're FREE), and the only thing they REALLY lack is not what most people think (driver support), but games. I've said it before. Give us penguins games and watch TRUE innovation explode into something wonderful. I'd pay for a commercial game that runs native in Linux.

Ok, fine, now I've got going. I learned something really really cool last week that I want to share with all the Linux haters and Linux lovers alike, and I can provide links to support.

If you think that linux is junk (or if you needed a new reason to love linux even more), just remember that PIXAR, etc use almost strictly Linux boxes and renderfarms to produce the CGI movies you watch. Contrary to popular belief (I was part of that belief until I read the links that follow) Linux isn't just used to render the movies, Linux boxes are actually used to CREATE the movies before they get thrown to the renderfarms.

LINUX is powerful. Endlessly powerful. Mac is too, but only so much as 'The Jobs' will allow. MS is pretty much as powerful as it's going to get since it's always third string bench warmer. (face the facts)

So, you sir, are uninformed, misinformed, have had bad experiences, or at the very least have different needs that Linux cannot suffice. That's ok, just don't use it. Me, I love it. Personally, I love having complete and total control over every aspect of my system, inside and out. Don't like the kernel? Just compile a new one (instructions are always available). In fact, the ONLY problems I've had with Ubuntu come from shitty printers/scanners/webcams, and that area is getting better and better every day.

A modular system will beat the shit out of MS or Mac any day of the decade. That's just a fact. It's irrefutable.

If you can prove me wrong, I'll wipe Ubuntu from my system and install Windows Vista 32bit without any service packs.

Links:

http://www.linuxjournal.com/article/5472

http://www.linuxtoday.com/high_performance/2003100201126OSBZHE...
