Why WOULDN'T you be able to access it easily with your right hand? The whole point is that, if you're using the touchpad, then you're not using a mouse. Your hands are on the keyboard 90% of the time, and the numeric pad only 10%. So they've placed it exactly where it is MOST EASILY access by your right hand.
