I have a NP8660 (same model, last years components), with 4GB of RAM, 2.5GHz CPU, and 9800m GT. The fans are quiet (and include a silent mode that works), the heat stays low, it can play every game I throw at it on maximum settings (except Crysis :P), and I use it to take notes in class. It's my no-compromise PC.

Far cry 2 is much more efficient and less graphics intensive than crysis. Also for the allpower or whatever alienware calls it, clevo has a build that is the same with the SLI GTX 280m with all the same options (Raid, processor etc...)

This 15 inch laptop is amazing and it does handle everything on the highest settings, even crysis.
