Sony adds PSP access to PlayStation Network video store, 16 new content partners
Tucked in between the "worst kept secret" PSP Go and motion control demos at its E3 press conference, Sony also revealed new content for the PlayStation Network video service, and the ability to download video directly to the PSP, no PS3 or PC intermediary needed. No word on when to expect the new content exactly, but it will include video from Showtime Networks, Starz, G4 & E!, Summit Entertainment, The Weinstein Company, HDNet & Magnolia Pictures, Anime Network, Media Blasters, Right Stuf's Nozomi Entertainment, Starz Media's Manga Entertainment, Toei Animation, Viz Media, WEP, UFC, TNA and Video Action Sports. Looks like Sony will have easy on the go access to video store content up and running before Microsoft gets its Zune integration act together, but whether that compares to 1080p instant streaming promises remains to be seen (Hint: first one with direct Hulu access wins, we're just saying, guys.) Check out Sony's trailer embedded after the break.

now THATS cool
Hell yea, cant wait
cool viz and manga ^_^
It certainly helps but I was really hoping for Netflix support ... but I love a lot of those channels so I guess it is just as good. I was also hoping for twitter, facebook and myspace integration - nothing, disappointed but overall happy.
I got excited for this; The PSP is a very nice portable media device, and having on-demand portable downloads is a dream come true... It's just unfortunate that (apparently) you can't view prices online. If prices are reasonable, I'd totally be all-for getting a PSP.
Anyone care to comment on what prices are like for TV Shows and Movies?
Video are available in both SD and HD, and TV pricing starts at $1.99. Movie purchases run between $9.99 - $14.99, while rentals are $2.99 - $5.99
Also: I think free, ad-supported videos would be a great thing for the PSP. People already watch these incredibly grainy, compressed videos on Hulu with ads; On-the-go, high quality videos with ads seems like it could be a major attraction for the PSP.
Manga Entertainment? Nice! Hopefully that means we can get The End of Evangelion.
Hell yeah this got me so hyped when I saw Manga Entertainment. Then I saw Anime Network and was like "!!!!!!!"
And then Toei and I was like "OMG!" and then saw Viz/Media Blasters and I came.
^_^
Wow, quite a lot of anime companies are on board. Looks like I'll have my anime fix.
That was my thought, and the reason I got excited... I need more on pricing, though. :(
I assume Nozomi Entertainment is an AV company?
This should have really been included earlier, but... its great you add it now!! Pretty sweet stuff to accompany the PSP Go! (where? ...I don't get it... SONY WHERE DO YOU WANT ME TO GO?!)
Off the couch you lazy bum ;)
On a side note, Does this mean I can get my naruto fix portable? Due to the PSP being wifi b, and this new edition digital only, are they including wifi g/n? I don't and won't wait 5 hours to download a movie to my psp.. not with my 300mbps wifi\30mbps DL\2mbps UL connection at home.. (and just as fast @ the college)
I'm picking up a white PSPgo on launch day if I can see more shots of it, it'll match my current white mobile hardware, while my home theatre stuff stays black. (Ps3, pc, bravia, etc.)
I would download right now BUT YOU DON'T LET CANADA GET MOVIES! I mean come on we're right next door and we have more money than everyone else!
+1.
It's not fair. Canada wants some movie lovin' too!
finally its launch, Now i am very excited to get that as soon as possible at reasonable cost.
@Dragod
I was on line the other day at work with my PSP downloading sum Spongebob square pants episodes for my son's and they where $1.99 for 4 episodes. I haven't got a hole movie looked at all the movies yet but I seen sum for $5.00 bucks or so( older one's)
Hulu access doesn't matter if you're using Tversity pro or PlayOn media servers, which allow Hulu playback on both PS3 and 360. PlayOn works perfectly and looks better than standard def, though not as good as HD, but the stuff isn't in HD anyways.
It's active...Q
id rather have it on the ps3 than the psp
