based on how the controller is used for Wii Sports Golf, I'm guessing the sensor bar isn't actually used at all for this game. The controller can't "see" the bar when you are swinging it down. But yeah, even my Nintendo obsessed kids are looking at the other two consoles now.
I still think it's the *games* that will drag them away from their Wii, not the controller. They have no interest in shooters like Gears of War, but more games like Little Big Planet or a new Katamari that are aimed at the mindset of the Nintendo player will be the best way to make converts.
