Some professionals do... sounds like most of the people here do not. My original point was that if this thing is that big and expensive anyway, what difference does it make to not include a proper firewire port.  Its advantage over USB is the ability to throw power down the cable to other devices on a chain. I have an unpowered hub with my cell phone,  Sony reader and blue-tooth headset all charging right now from USB. All taking power from the desktop PC via USB. I noticed to didn't mention any high power USB devices.  At the moment I have 2 2.5" Hard drives (820GB's) daisy chained to 1 firewire port.
