Castle = Pre. The graphic is wrong, the code and the build system are right
2. The rom wasn't actually leaked. You can get the restore tool here: www.palm.com/rom
Unzip the jar and you have the OS, plus sprint add ons, plus CMDA AND UTMS firmwares. So yes it is going GSM eventually. The code is already done.
3. We rooted the Pre around 8ish Pacific time. There are carrier settings for carriers all around the world already in there, and alot of the webOS code is not Pre specific, so there are definitely lots of device/carrier combinations in the pipeline.

EMK

Comments on Palm Pixie (Eos) confirmed via webOS ROM leak?

Let's hope the graphic is wrong about a lot of things. At $299 post rebate, this is a non-starter for all but the most rabid Palm fans or Apple/RIM haters (unless of course this is the no-commitment price). I think it was a good seller for Palm. It's a great design and I hope the new WebOS phone will mimic it as much as possible. You just can't get smaller and still provide a keyboard. Whoever designed the Centro deserves a lap dance...

clicclic

Comments on Palm Pixie (Eos) confirmed via webOS ROM leak?

I can SEE this coming, i'm taking it on.

...Unles you are some of the unhappy US customers whose dialer/SMS app came bogus and is constantly crashing.

I DO have a palm centro, and it is not US version, and it have never crashed. Dialing OK, answering calls OK, (3rd p) recording calls OK, SMS OK, etc. OK. My dialer app looks different of those on Sprint&ATT.

Don't know exactly what other phones have this same problem, but not me, that's for sure.

By the way, it explains why customers say "I have a AT&T phone" or "I have an Sprint phone", but on customer service. Does not explain why it is there on AMAZON, for example. Is a Sprint centro different phisically from an unlocked phone? Why "case for Sprint centro", for example? So that's definitely not for another one. E/G an unlocked phone. lol

bucorraba

Comments on Palm Pixie (Eos) confirmed via webOS ROM leak?

First of, from (hopefully) a fairly unbiased opinion and coming from an iPhone owner... I was drooling at the thought of the pre potentially stealing tons of market share from apple, not because of dislike for apple, but because the iphone has been lacking in areas every since it debuted; such as the majority of the updates it supposed to get in 3.0. I just had an epiphany ** maybe apple never included MMS capability because ATT wasn't ready?? Think about, ATT supposedly won't support iPhone MMS till late summer even though the update is coming out in on day!! WTF!? Back to the Pre, I am thrilled in some ways about the slide out keyboard, yet am looking forward to Iphone landscape keyboard, not-to-mention I find I can breeze right through typing a long message easier on a touch screen device than on an actually keyboard that you have to dig your thumb nail into the right button and push it. I always kind of figured palm would be a smaller, better version of the iPhone(s), such as the ever eluding iPhone Nano... which, I would DEFINITELY would have bought into if that would have released it this summer vs a stupid iPhone 3G upgrade. Apple has set the bar pretty high in some respects and I can see device makers exceeding that bar in different areas, but find it hard to believe one manufacturer will combine all the great features that blow the iphone out of the water. I realize the app store plays a huge role in all of this but given the right device... "build it, and they will come"... just like apple did. I am 99% percent certain that over half of iphone owners were apple fans and that is why they bought into the iphone, no, they were simply taken by remarkable device is so feature rich. I know my sentence structure is horrible, but its late and I had to vent. This post didn't necessarily have much to do with the topic except that someone before me remarked on the crappy phone in the picture... what! are we supposed to be excited about this device? I mean really, a "Blackberry Pre"? Give it up with the physical keyboard... especially exposed??? Less of a screen, more chance to press a button, less versatility, and most of all you can't change orientation. I'm tired.

brandon
