1) Removing all the ear wax from the walls of the ear canal, instead of just the excess. Ear wax is an essential part of your outer ear system, cleaning your outer ear out.

2) Packs in the ear wax that doesn't collect on the tip. It pushes excess earwax further down the ear canal, which if built up can form a solid wall in front of the eardrum and cause temporary hearing loss until the wall is removed by a doctor.

Earwax getting on your earbuds is 100% completely natural. As a sufferer from permanent hearing loss, I have a higher production of earwax in general due to wearing my hearing aids (read: placing a foreign object in my ears) all the time and go to have my ears professionally cleaned probably 2-3 times a year. I am able to turn off all sounds on my proccessor except for the earphone input.
