But I wouldn't say it's everything the TP2 is and more. I wouldn't even say it's everything the TP2 is. The TP2's best features barely register on a spec sheet, if at all. Okay, if you actually read what that iPhone 3GS CPU is actually compared to, you wouldn't say so. It is compared to a 1GHz CPU by it's performance. Yes, iPhone has it's flaws and good sides, but which phone doesn't? It's not about which phone has more MHz, it's about how the system can run at specs given. Well, looks like 600 is enough for OS X and 800 is about enough for WinMo. I'm an Apple hater and I use WinMo based phone every day and yes, I like WinMo more just because of multitasking and advanced-userfriendliness(admit it, you can do more with WinMo/Android/soon also WebOS based phone, than with iPhone)

What determines a good smartphone is not just based on the hardware specs but also the OS, ease of use, and the supporting developers.

Base on my past experience in WinMo, Android, Symbian, I would have to say, iPhone's OS is so far one of the best for it's core features. Of course, there are still many features lacking in iPhone OS, but at least it has revolutionized the user interface of a touch screen only device. Apple did point out the flaws of the old touch screen interface and re-invent the entire UI specifically for mobile use. Let me get this straight, ImPulsE gives you a well reasoned response and is pro-Windows Mobile and yet you disagree with him/her? I am sorry but you are an idiot. Who cares about the hardware specification? What is important is the software and how well it runs. You can throw all the MHz you want at software but if it still runs like crap then the whole user experience is crap. Ideally, you want a device that runs your software well and has the LOWEST processor speed that you can find so that your battery lasts longer. By all means, argue about the quality and functionality of the software for a device but don't get caught up in a MHz pissing match, particularly with something that is expected to draw as little power as possible.

By doing our best to complain and whine on a post not at all related to Android, we will succeed in getting Android, a mobile OS where there's not as many applications yet, where you can't get tethering (yet), where you can't use an SD card to load apps (yet), doesn't use full Java standards, among other nice qualities onto every phone in the market. WinMo was slow no matter what CPU was in it. I've had a T-Mobile Dash, HTC TyTn, HTC Libra, Moto Q9m and a HTC Touch Diamond, all were promised to be faster than the previous, and all were exactly the same feel. They would all frequently tell me I was out of memory despite task manager saying there was over 18mb free, would 'remember' alarms and go off even after that particular alarm was deleted, etc. Just too many nigling little problems.

The blackberry, by contrast, and even despite being a 1.5 year old phone (at least), feels very snappy. There are times it bogs down, but its seldom and only when I know i load too many apps at one time. I used to talk smack on BBerry. I used to be a WinMo fanboy. Also, having 12 apps for 1 task just tells you that none of them can be very good, or else no one would bother creating another. At least thats how I look at things when it comes to the linux world. If there was one be all and end all app, there wouldn't be 36 different ones in the repositories. The way I see it, these are your options when it comes to smartphones:

1. There's an app for that. Except the one that lets you run multiple apps.
2. device.exe is insisting on crashing your phone, for no apparent reason. Send error report?
3. E-mail e-mail e-mail e-mail. I can't really say anything negative about BB OS other than not liking the UI.
4. Series 60 is alright, and probably the most stable of the bunch.
5. OMG WEBOS. Time will tell.
6. mmm...cupcakes. Where are the devices?

Odd how I love WinMo but can't find something bad to say about a few of its competitors. If decent S60 devices didn't cost a fortune I'd probably be using it.
