FIrst, I don't own either phone, but they both seem pretty cool.

Second, listing every last gimmicky feature that one phone is lacking is a bit silly. Some people think that certain features are more important than others.

For example, some people really need to have a physical keyboard and the ability to multitask, so for them the iPhone is not an option.
Other people may prioritize a larger screen (same RES, lower DENSITY MarkCohen) for watching videos, so the Pre isn't as suited for their needs.

I mean, my crappy old phone does MMS messaging, which I never use, but I don't think it's better than the iPhone. And my crappy old phone can also voice dial, which I never used after the novelty wore off, but I don't think it's better than the Pre.

I say that, despite your list, the Pre IS a better phone for some people. Ultimately, the knowledge base article is more about Apple covering their end. They don't want people crying to them if iTunes 8.3 breaks Pre syncing, even if the breaking was unintentional.
