Black Wii, blue controllers spotted in the wild, behind glass

We've already seen both the black (or kuro) Wii and blue Wii remote and nunchuck in the form of promotional photos, but it looks like both braved the trip to this past weekend's World Hobby Fair, where they were on display for all to see, but not touch. As you might expect, there aren't a ton of surprises but, as Joystiq notes, the contrast between the glossy and matte portions on the Wiimote and nunchuck is much more noticeable on the black version (pictured after the break), and the black Classic Controller Pro also looks like it has an extra coat of gloss compared to the white version. Unfortunately, it looks like Nintendo is still saving word of a release date 'round these parts for another day.

This title begs the question though- if it's behind glass, is it really in the wild?
It says it is the monster hunter 3 special pack set, so I guess you just need to buy that and you get the lot in black...the blue controllers are winnable as a competition related to the Wii sports resort game.
I don't like the blatent profiteering though, even Apple offers a choice of colors right from the start.
how is this profiteering? i doubt somebody will feel the need to buy a blue wii if they already have a white one.

This is a gadget blog, right? The Wii and it's various peripherals are gadgets, are they not?
If you don't have an interest in what's being posted, skip it after reading the article title, don't post on it. Better yet, go somewhere else, because I'm sure that in the 20 or so posts that Engadget posts in a given day, they'll probably have several others that are not interesting to you personally, too.

The blue looks like the same color as the inside of my 1970s dishwasher. The black one is sexy.
I just noticed that the Nunchuck is glossy on the front and matte on the back...
Also, the black Wii will look awesome with the blue light on.
Extra grip I suppose. The Classic Pro looks a lot better than the original.
I hope I NEVER see any black Wii's in the wild. If I were to spot a blue Wii, I would advise the owner to seek medical attention.

Here's the problem. Nintendo is sorely losing the console wars. They are so far behind, this is laughable.
People want to buy advanced systems and this is nintendo's answer? The same machine in a different color?
If this looks good to you, you need to clean your hello kitty sunglasses and read the fine print.
You're kidding, right? The Wii has absolutely crushed box PS3 and XBox 360 in terms of unit sales. More people across more demographics are playing the Wii than any other console in history. True, for a while there Nintendo was looking down and out, but the success of the Wii has very much changed the nature of the industry. Also, if Nintendo were losing so badly, why are both Sony and Microsoft so desperate to develop their own motion-controlled accessories?

You dork. People want to buy a current gaming system that's fun, doesn't require previous experience to master any of its games and.. one that also just happens to be the cheapest solution available (I said *current*)
FWIW I've stuck with PS2, XBOX1+XBMC and a Gamecube. Why buy another system when there's plenty of games for those that now only cost a couple of quid?

The top photo looks like it is for a contest. I believe it says that 5,000 (NOT that its cost $5000 LOL) people will received this special edition Wii. I doubt it will be for sale. Its funny that you guys won't even translate the Japanese part of it and come up with your own random ideas about it.

as soon as the Wii is in HD i'll probably buy one, but playing a wii on a plasma TV is annoying considering how horrible it looks...
