Take for example the Air as example or pretty much every other laptop with a sense of design they all have tapered edges and get fat at the middle as they all have the same problems like this television technically wise.
Ideally though if a producer would choose like Sony did with their OLED that all the thick stuff is placed in the base so the screen keeps it slimness.

Oddly.. people tend to complain that thin girls aren´t goodlooking yet in whatever design we try to achieve minimalistic is the trend to be. Does it look good? I mean are we really that needy we would sacrifice picture quality for the aesthetically pleasing thin-ness? Most of the LCD TV's out there right now look more like an artwork anyways, so as far as I can tell the only upside to this is the OLED use and less power consumption. Thats what I like about it, Power consumption and response. LCD TV's suck up a lot of power even when they aren't on.

http://frugalliving.about.com/od/energyandutilities/qt/Have_Phantoms.htm

Jordan

Comments on

what Jordan says... and if it didn't have the fat block it would barely stick out of the wall, which looks really cool.

@JZ, you totally missed the point. i don't think its sexy to have a thick middle and thin edges, because that means there is space between the edges and the wall. omgwtf it has thin edges. but its still big because it sticks out. and i wasn't talking about the technical part.

if they boast about their thinness, make it 100% thin and dont lie about it. it is not 7mm. the edges are. if u crack open a regular lcd and place the controlling electronics and the inverter in a seperate box it will probably be less than 1cm thick, i don't see the big deal here.

ultimatepwnage

Comments on

I think it would cool in some cases, but given that you still have components and speakers that aren't thin I think a TV flat against the wall would look kind of dumb with everything esle sticking out further... and forget those BS in-wall speakers.
