Same board and parts, but the chassis no longer includes the illuminated touch media buttons. The NV seems more no-nonsense, with a dedicated numeric keypad and the volume and touch buttons moved to the traditional area (above the F keys). It looks thinner, so it's probably at least a bit lighter than the MDs and since there are no more illuminated areas other than the screen, and since the screen is supposedly "led-backlit", it probably gets a bit more use while on battery (though you can turn off the light anyway on the MD). All in all it's a nice alternative, though personally I prefer the illuminated buttons on the MD. I have the same model as you do, and I enjoy it.

As for movies on the go. I don't think any laptop out there gets a whole lot more than 3 hrs on a 4400 mah battery, no matter what corners you cut...especially on a dual core setup. I'm sure something with a single core will do it, but HD on those gets sketchy unless you're lucky.

I have been able to watch 2 movies on mine with the media button lights off and the screen brightness down a bit and Windows 7 set to Power Saver with no problem, that translates to just a bit over 3 hrs.

Neoprimal

Comments on Gateway adds the 15.6-inch NV series to its laptop lineup

Something doesn't seem right here.
