Medialets should have left that part out of their otherwise-totally-factual report (unless, of course, for some reason Palm has directly told them that number).

In addition, since Medialets has the daily data, they should have labeled each point in that graph with the number of applications available for each day. They could just pop the number on top of each bar, for example. The number of applications available is NOT a constant, thus is very important to understand what is being presented. Labeling the endpoints is not sufficient.

FINALLY, Medialets should state if UPDATES to software are counted as downloads. We already know that exchanged Pres and hard reset Pres redownload applications (and are counted as downloads).

I appreciate real data since Palm won't give us any but Medialets had a LOT more real data they could have shown us.

The point is that people judge these numbers against Apple's numbers, and both should be offered the same amount of reality distortion. Although, the numbers that the analysts have come up with make sense, considering how many Pres are out in the market. My comment had to do witht he information available from Palm, how it got massaged by medialets, and how Medialets could present us an even better picture of what's happening with the pre if they just showed us what they already have.

Because the Palm app store lists how many times an app has been downloaded. Since there are only 30 programs, its not exactly high math to add up the totals. And really, what is bizarre or fishy sounding about an average 6 apps per new user?

This isn't the Iranian elections pal, no one is claiming that 6 bazillion phones sold and 10 trillion apps downloaded, giving the market lead to the Pre. There's distrusting hype, and then there is being a contrarian jackass.

I swear, opponents of gadget X will swear that the makers of gadget X are lying sons of bitches who make daily rites to the devil. Apple's numbers are not "pulled from the air", they're actual download and device numbers that Apple gives us. If you've got a (good) reason to question them, then provide those reasons.

Pre's numbers are "pulled from the air", because Palm has not given official numbers ... get it? It's different! Go on, check again - Apple is giving numbers, Palm is not. See how that is different? Do you have eyes? Do you see that they are different?

All Freakin ljit initially tried to say was, a) hey, don't go expecting this to be 100% accurate because they are using estimates of devices sold, not exact numbers; and b) are re-downloads counted as downloads?

No mention of Apple or the iPhone, but as usual, the anti-Apple trolls see their enemy everywhere, so despite FL not mentioning Apple you all acted as though they did.

And none of you bothered to even try to answer their perfectly valid question.
