BeamBox outs MiLi Evolution Mini Power Projector for iPhone, iPod touch

Pocket projectors -- if they aren't quite 'all the rage' -- crop up all over the place these days. Beambox has teamed up with MiLi (makers of some fine iPhone chargers) on this newest one. The MiLi Evolution Mini Power Projector works in conjunction with your iPhone or iPod touch, docking it into the unit which then acts as projector and charger in one. The LCOS projector boasts 10 lumens of brightness for VGA projection of an image from 3 to 70 inches. It'll be about $255 when it's released around the end of July. One more shot after the break.

Superfluous and cool looking! I must have it!
Muhammad-Oli @ Jun 27th 2009 8:57AM
While it's quite a smart folding design, it certainly looks weird when it's opened out.
bushako @ Jun 27th 2009 8:59AM
i want it...
bushako @ Jun 27th 2009 9:03AM
on second thought it looks like it can easily tilt on the side very easily while taping the iphones screen.
Sirius @ Jun 27th 2009 9:19AM
Damn this looks good! Compared with most other pico-projectors at least..
Steve @ Jun 27th 2009 10:27AM
At least it looks like they actually thought about it rather than just made a black brick.
Might be cool for presentations.
brad murphy @ Jun 27th 2009 10:38AM
Dang... as a guy who lives on the road pitching to clients this this thing looks way cool... I need one now!
GingerFox @ Jun 27th 2009 9:45AM

Richard Lai @ Jun 27th 2009 10:11AM
This is pretty neat. I can see Belkin branding this product.
Dodswm @ Jun 27th 2009 10:16AM
That looks cool - 70 inches :O
darkmax @ Jun 27th 2009 10:19AM
Nice design
Les Posen @ Jun 27th 2009 10:22AM
Pretty design, but 10 lumens when your average cheap data projector is 2000 lumens? It'll have to be seen in almost total darkness.
Nik @ Jun 27th 2009 10:32AM
Fuck me that's awesome, but 10 lumens is a little low, i'll wait for v2
AlpahGeeeK @ Jun 27th 2009 10:41AM
Looks cool, but 10 lumens is too low. Nice try though.
tom lewis @ Jun 28th 2009 5:04AM
would be great to set up a mini theatre in the back of my pick-up. for when travelling.
BeyondtheTech @ Jun 27th 2009 11:06AM
This is only good for videos on the iPhone, right?
Can you output live application use?
Germain @ Jun 27th 2009 11:10AM
I think the video out on the device only works for photos and videos...
Don @ Jun 27th 2009 5:43PM
if you jailbreak, there's an app that allows you to output video to any app.
Rambo @ Jun 27th 2009 11:20AM
For everyone complaining about lumens, this is an LED source, not the halogen bulbs of larger projectors. LED technology has a ways to go before we start seeing 2000 lumens on a pico projector.
On another note, this is really awesome, and the resolution really isn't too bad (640x480).

Very nice gadget to go with my iphone but will this available in Australia?
Skittleswrapper @ Jun 28th 2009 3:13AM
This would be awesome if they made an upgraded version for the Zune HD! You'd be able to experience its 720p HDMI output capabilities almost everywhere you go!
pdparticle @ Jun 27th 2009 4:08PM
DON'T GO TO THERE WEBSITE!!!REALLY UNSAFE!
Sinistril @ Jun 28th 2009 6:11PM
Sure it may be cool to carry around a projector, but in all actuality this product is probably a waste if the technology is anything like normal projectors. One of my friends uses a full sized projector for movies and video games. While it looks good and has a huge HD screen, the 'bulb' eventually dies out and you have to replace it (roughly 100 dollars). So I must ask, what is the life of the projector itself, and would you have to replace parts or just buy a new one?
Luc @ Jun 29th 2009 12:03PM
Probably it uses LEDs as a light source - I assume. Lifespan would not be an issue then.
AwesomeWells @ Jun 28th 2009 6:04AM
Does it come in beige?

Cool gadget!!! Gotta have it with my Iphone. Will it be available here in Australia???

I would avoid BeamBox products. I purchased their pocket projector directly from them earlier this year, and it arrived with a cracked lens. They had me ship it back to them at my expense (almost $100) and the new unit they sent would not run from AC power. They have serious quality control issues and almost no customer service.
