I have not been to the doctor in years because I never get more than a small sniffle here and there. Why should I pay a huge amount in tax increases for a service that I am not using - especially when a few months ago there was a news article where 3 people were responsible for 1000+ emergency room visits in just 2 months for very minor issues (hangnails, etc)? Why should I pay for those people who abuse the system?

Our health care system is broken, no doubt about it. But the root of those problems, the litigious nature surrounding health care and the pharmaceutical industry, were caused by the government (because the politicians and trial lawyers go hand-in-hand, and the over restrictive regulation on meds). But under government rule, when there is a true reason to sue over a failure from a doctor, such as a few years ago when a doctor stiched his initials into a patient, you will not be able to.

We have a tradition here of keeping the government out of our lives. Now we have a president who is trying to insert himself into one of the most private parts of our personal lives - our health care. It is interesting how our current president has one of the most liberal polices towards abortion (I am not saying I agree or disagree with abortion, it is outside the scope of this discussion) because he believes government should keep hands off of a woman's reprodctive life, but when it comes to government controlling the totality of a person's health care, he is all for it. Allowing the governemnt to decide my health care, not my doctor (if I had one) and myself is something I am not too happy about.

Nohone

Comments on

@ benny boy
Yeah you don't have 10,000 illegals swimming/jumping/running over to your country every DAY, and using the health care that I...
