Chapel <br><br>I know how useless is to feed a troll, and I hate to agree with Steve Ballmer but he was right. He's talking about worldwide market share of all the phones and Apples marketshare for the 1Q09 was 1.5%.<br><br>As for microsoft putting out a phone. not likely. Many manufacturers would drop WinMo phone lines if microsoft started to make phones so it would be counter productive. That may change: don't know, don't care.  Not sure how it's relevant though as WinMo's been around for years and seems to have a pretty good market share.  I suppose you could accuse Apple of copying MS by putting software on a phone. <br><br>As for Apple, yeah done pretty well and may squeeze another few percentage points out of the market but probably peaked.  It's a nice phone but plenty competition these days. Ballmer was definitely misleading in saying 1.3 billion phones, because that would make it seem like he was talking about ALL phones. HOWEVER, when he's talking about 60-80% market share for WinMo, this is CLEARLY referring to the smartphone market, otherwise he's absolutely insane. I think he's weird, but not insane. Dont think winmo has ever had 60% of marketshare, not even close. WinMos phone marketsharews been about 12%. And as symbian has about 60% smartphone marketshare it doesnt seem even possible. <br><br>Just checked and this is from 2007, before Nokia bought Symbian. Its possible that Microsoft was trying to buy Symbian at the time. Would eplain somewhat this 60% claim and why nokia bought others out of Symbian.<br><br>As for "Regardless, sales are no indicator of success. It has a nice screen, decent hardware, the only real downsides were the OS and the surepress screen.  The surepress screen is going away and the OS is getting an upgrade.  That might be enough to push this into the buyable list for me. I had a Bold from launch until the 3GS launched, and towards the end the Bold could hardly keep a 3G signal. It would drop calls all the time too.<br><br>Now that I have the 3GS I don't notice it as much since I'm on WiFi a lot more often (couldn't use WiFi networks with a proxy on the BB), but I do see the E for EDGE a lot on my iPhone before the WiFi connects. I love the Surepress screen. It combines the click of a normal BB keyboard with the touch of an iPhone-esque handset. Sure, it's not perfect and I hope they can improve it in the Storm 2 (read my comment above - RIM said Surepress isn't going anywhere), but I do like what they've done. I'm currently using a Blackberry Curve 8310 and have become a big fan of the Blackberry interface.
