Wifi's "disabled" because it does not support for the WAPI standard, which is used in the Chinese infrastructure. Thanks Gabe, good information, I had not heard of WAPI standard before. It's curious as to why they don't just put a compliant module in. Then again it's strange that they are not only insisting on WAPI but also insisting that Apple remove a module that is standardised and acceptable throughout the rest of The World. I can't imagine I'd want to own my iPhone if it didn't have WiFi access.
