That story was about the ridiculous ASUS product range and it attracted the best comment I've ever read, written by a guy called Mike:

"I know what you're thinking: "Which Eee PC suits me?" Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement I kind of lost track myself. But being as this is an ASUS, the most rock solid PC in the world, and would blow your head clean off, you've got to ask yourself one question: Am I a traveler, or a travel explorer? Well, what are ya, punk?"

Maybe it's not so relevant to this bit of news, but it still cracks me up.

The Touch Book is going to the only device to compete with it in terms of price and size but how it will perform remains to be seen.

The main thing is that these two computers, if given good support from the manufacturers will begin to set a standard for bringing down the price of tablet computing. Tablets won't become mainstream till there is a good user interface is developed that isn't a tacked on peice of software. It needs to be integral to the OS so that all software is usable and not a select few handpicked apps.]]>Jul 21st 2009 10:52AM
