Also I don't have any strange pendrive, just your typical ugly 4GB Kingston one. The only thing I have to care about is to close all of the applications running from the pendrive (Firefox generally, Open Office, Pidgin, etc) and finish copying files if I'm doing that (which is common sense I think).

The pendrive even comes with a light to tell you if it is doing something or not; and I wouldn't ever pay the premium that Apple charges for it's products; I bet I could buy 2 same capacity Kingston Pendrives cheaper than one of the Apple ones, and have spare money.

Don Manolo

Comments on Apple patent filing details "touch and go" USB devices

Oh my god, this thread is so full of misinformation, it would be generous to call it stupid. Seriously, here's what I keep hearing:

"Wow, I'm not paying $100 for that."

This is a patent announcement! Who the hell said it would be $100 or any other price?

"Uh, it's going to be $100 because Apple stuff is, like, way more expensive and stuff."

How many times does this have to be proven factually, empirically wrong until you people will shut up? Some things (BTO RAM, Black on a MacBook for example) are stupidly expensive from Apple, but where are you morons when when Dell charges you $100 for a color, and makes you pay $30 for Bluetooth? The overwhelming majority of Apple's products, especially their consumer products, are priced in-line or even competitively to their competitors. There is no way to validate this opinion with facts.

Every time Apple announces a product, everyone races to prove it's too expensive, then the facts roll in and everyone realizes they're comparing nicely equipped macs with a baseline netbook that has a 4GB hard drive and no wireless.

"I don't eject and it doesn't hurt me."

Wow, I guess if don't get struck by lighting playing golf in a thunderstorm, it must be totally safe.

"Windows doesn't have this problem. Apple just wants to charge you to fix it."

God...just...too stupid to respond.

grovberg
