I helped him get it setup, and although the concept is great and should work good for most situations, the camera they put in it absolutely sucks. The camera is only a 1.3 MP camera, and takes picture that have some serious color issues. If they get that worked out, then this will be a great solution. And one other note, this is not a Brickhouse Item. It is not developed by them. It comes from a company called Smart Scouter (https://www.smartscouter.com/ssDefault.aspx?), and you will most likely be using there website for setting up the camera and viewing pictures.

It has to be on a data plan through Smart Scouter, and can be purchased to work on the Sprint Network or Alltel/Verizon Network.

Scott S

Comments on All Weather Cellular Camera is an all weather cellular camera

See, since it was offered by Brickhouse Security, I was expecting it to be built like a....

Yeah, you know.

OLight

Comments on All Weather Cellular Camera is an all weather cellular camera

All that for 600, shows you how silly that claim is that those stolen traffic cams were worth 30 grand a piece or what was it again.

Wwhat

Comments on All Weather Cellular Camera is an all weather cellular camera

I have had the chance to work with this device on several occasions. Having tested several other systems I can that for what this one does and the cost it's actually a very good set up. While the camera is only 1.3 Mp and uses reflected IR light as opposed to an actual thermal image camera, the fact that you can leave it in the field for up to 1 month, 4 with the battery pack, makes it an excellent surveillance device. Placed at approcimately 6' up it was able to capture movement of animals and people out to 20'. They are easy to camouflage, set up, move, and operate. The laser makes it easy to sight just where you want the pictures taken. The low Mp on the camera is good in a way in that the images are smaller, and cost less to transmit overall. Besides, who wants a 6Mp picture of a deer, or trespasser when 1.3 will do? Its also pretty easy to hack as well.

The only improvement I would make are dry contacts or blue tooth capabilities so you could add additional cameras or flash panels.

polymath
