I just built an dual-core Atom/Ion-based HTPC for quite a bit less than that with more RAM and display options. I know that custom-built PCs aren't directly comparable in price to off-the-shelf ones, but there are other Atom/Ion-based complete systems, like the Aspire Revo, that come in a lot cheaper than this barebones.
