Based on the same PowerVR gfx design that the Cortex A8 and the A8 (ex the OMAP 3 on BeagleBoard) can play 720p without any issues at all. With netbook screens being small that should provide all the performance necessary. Sammys new 1GHz Cortex A8 should be an interesting third party in the Tegra vs Pine Trail vs Cortex A8/Snapdragon/etc...

Moving the Memory controller and the gfx into the same package should provide a very nice performance boost, and power savings like advertised, it always does... remember AMDs Athlons, Intel Core all got big perofrmance boost from moving the Memory Controller to the Chip. This is the platform that is actually going to compete with the Nvda Tegra, so it should provide a boost in bat lifetime and performance. Interesting times ahead :)

DDd

Comments on New Atom architecture Pine Trail on schedule for this year, says Intel's Eden

@ddd

Pine View is an x86 chip and the Pine Trail platform is for running x86 based operating systems.

It won't be competing with Tegra or any other upcoming ARM based platforms you mention, because they can not run Windows.

good grief

Comments on New Atom architecture Pine Trail on schedule for this year, says Intel's Eden

Dan, that info is not available.

The integrated graphics could simply be the same GMA950 garbage we've had, or they could be any of the other GMA chips(HD performance varies from piss poor to OK), or they could be something completely different.

Info has been thus far nonexistent.

jon

Comments on New Atom architecture Pine Trail on schedule for this year, says Intel's Eden

@good grief

a) Check your facts.
