Throwing up would have been an appropriate response, i felt my whole face screw up like I had just tried eating concentrated lemons or something. And WTF has the FCC letter got to do with Schmidt, they would have been discussing this tactically for months, probably years. I mean sheet, Apple likely asked Google to make the App so they could reject it and have an easy out with AT&T "Oh, Sorry, the government told us to do it".

All the freakin Telcos are losing it over the force of VOIP and other revenue crushing tech that is piling up against their resistance. Time they realised we all already know its just Ones and Zeros. They are raking it in per bit on SMS and Voice; now there is where the FCC needs to start lopping heads, Telco protectionism. The charges in Australia are bad enough, I can't imagine if a Telco tried to tell me that I had to pay to receive a text.
