If you have pockets deep enough to handle this beast, then the slight width and thickness of the iPhone shouldn't be a problem. Also I don't really enjoy LG's products, and I too find the interface extremely familiar. I.E. It looks alot like Apple's Iphone. I live in Korea, and their government and telecom industry have been blocking the Iphone to come into their country so they can pretty much rip off Apples IP, and not let it fairly compete. Also their government will buy Korean citizens Korean phones. Why is the Iphone not allowed to compete in Korea, yet Korean phones are allowed to compete in America? I call FOUL. (For those of you who don't know the iphone is always a month away here in Korea)

TechNewb

Comments on

I live in Korea, too 'Newb, and I've been here long enough to have seen a ton of things that Korean products had before Apple did. I remember that iRiver came out with a color screened hard disk based MP3 player that acted as a usb host for cameras that you could view photos on...before the "iPod Photo" (at a higher capacity, as well). I also remember when LG announced their touch screened "luxury featurephone," the Prada Phone...before the iPhone was announced. It was almost completely touchscreen (with call buttons on the lower portion of the face, with looks that many fans of the iPhone decried as ripping the design and IP of Apple, but it was announced before Apple announced their super-secret entry into mobile communication, and was in development well before it was announced.

I will admit that the Korean legislature has enacted some laws (at the behest of the tech manufacturing and mobile communications lobbies) that have erected some difficult barriers to market entry for foreign companies, resulting in de facto protectionism, but trust me, it was never about Apple. It was always about Samsung and LG and how important they are to stabilizing a Korean economy that had seen some stumbles that were far from having been wiped from the memories of the citizens of Korea. If companies really wanted a piece of the mobile action in Korea, they would conform to the standards and laws of the land. Motorola provides a good example of getting their ducks in a row, and getting their products to market in Korea (whether or not that did them any good in the long term, is another story completely). Apple got into the mobile game and started making their own rules, and they don't like to play by anyone else's rules.

The only reason why the iPhone is not out in Korea, is because an entire countries legislature doesn't give a rat's a$$ about their phone and is not going to rearrange their legislative agenda to kowtow to the mighty Steve Job's turd of glory. The thing that prevented the iPhone from coming to market was on the books long before it was announced, and if they had done their homework they could have easily given their product the chance to compete among others in Korea. Since Korea was seemingly an afterthought to Apple, they apparently decided to put it on the back burner and focus their energy on negotiation with a bigger fish (China, who has some demands of their own that need to be met).

BigD

Comments on

nice... seems very nice. is that a USB host on it ? can we plug any mass storage usb device ?

raphael.cohen

Comments on

It is usb client, it can ACT like a mass storage device (and charge with a standard micro-usb cable) soon this will be a requirement for all phones in Europe.
