Colour associations appear to be a solely 20th-century occupation, vary greatly by geographical region, vary over time (as we have seen), and are therefore so obviously arbitrary and subjective that you'd have to be brain-dead to think they meant anything at all.

As for Josh's Incase, the idea that anyone's taste in colour, music, art, literature, or anything at all, can reliably determine their gender, their sexuality, their hormone balance, their masculinity or femininity, or indeed just about anything else, is a truly moronic and offensive notion.

What is really offensive is the use of 'feminine' as a pejorative term - what the hell is wrong with being female? Why should women (or things that appear 'womanly' to you) be held up to ridicule? Do you think that women are somehow inferior to men, so that saying that a man is 'feminine' is an acceptable insult? I mean, it wouldn't be an insult (and therefore you wouldn't have said it) if you thought men and women were equal. By using 'womanly' as an insult, you are clearly demonstrating what you think of women.

Now, from the Weblogs terms of service - "You may not engage in any conduct that is ... abusive, harassing; [or] victimizes, harasses, degrades, or intimidates an individual or group of individuals on the basis of religion, gender, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, age, or disability;"

So Joshua was completely justified in banning Joseph Mama. Hey, if you don't like the rules, then don't comment.
