While the N97 sucked huge time as it got outta its box , after numerous updates an heavy decrappyfyng session,a new Theme (andUI) download (there are 1000s for free) to substitute the drab and boring one provided by Nokia,and adding apps and programs, reorganizing its faulty memory partitioning, and a few personal fixes; I can guarantee you that it's become a far better device than the TP2 (apart for the k-board).
The iPhone here in Europe is strictly for noobs; I gave it a try myself and nearly immediatly exchanged it with an HTC touchHD which I still have and use as a personal phone (the N97 is my biznez phone).
However one of my collegues recently bought an OmniaHD and I must say that I got pretty jelous of his toy.
I preferred the N97 coz the OmniaHD looked too similar to my old TouchHD (at least the N97 got the physic qwerty), but I must admit that Sammy put out a monster phone.

Cons:
-Requires hacking to make phone enjoyable
-Responsiveness - laggy OS (1-2 second pauses are the norm)
-Bugginess - phone will sometimes freeze requiring a reboot
-Kernel is ancient - no support for mobile graphics chip set. Using any 3d hardware acceleration is nearly impossible unless you write your own drivers (like HTC).
-No app store (finding apps requires effort...future 'real' app store will be WinMo 7/Zune HD based)
-It's end of lifecyle... Android and iPhone will generate more interest/buzz and consequently have more future development. Pandora, Google Voice, newer features in Google Maps (i.e. street view) for instance probably won't make it's way to WinMo 6.1/6.5.

Currently running both a Touch Pro on WM 6.5 as well as a Touch HD on WM 6.5

- WinMo is NOWHERE NEAR THE END OF THEIR LIFE CYCLE. On the contrary, MS has just invested a ton of money in their mobile sector. More than 50 new WM phones are slated for release within the next year. Count that. More than 50.
WinMo phones have sold in larger quantities than either Android phones or the iPhone in 2007, 2008, and 2009 (thus far).
That is a FACT. Look it up.

- Responsiveness is based on the processor, not the OS as much. In fact, if you run a tweaked version on a custom ROM, lack of responsiveness on phones such as the TG01 and the Omnia 2 becomes a nonissue.

- I haven't had to reset either of my phones for weeks due to freezing. Only after a software update that recommends a restart.
Freezing is mostly a thing of the past....nevertheless iPhones and Android phones freeze as well.

- WinMo has Pandora (works over 3G, unlike iPhone).
- WinMo has Google Maps (with Latitude, unlike iPhone).
- WinMo has Google Maps (with Street View, unlike iPhone).

Its flaky. The stock WinMo shipped with the phones at launch always seem to get "confused" a lot: BlueTooth stops working, it stops getting mail, it immediately sends calls to Voicemail because it doesn't ring. Usually, a couple of "secret" revs from the provider seem to clear this up... Or maybe its just luck. I reburned the "official" stock Sprint image from a few months later onto the same phone that I got in the launch week and now its more like once every couple weeks that I need to soft reset the phone rather than every couple days.

Its not finger friendly... They're getting better, but even 6.5 isn't quite there yet. Scroll bars are especially egregious... This is less of a concern to me because I apparently have what is known in the business as "stupid fingers": even on my iPod Touch I'm frustrated by the UI going off and doing the wrong thing... So for the WinMo phone its only a matter of degrees worse...if I use the stylus its fine. I know that's somehow a "burn" on a device now to have a stylus but seriously, you're all a bunch of pizza eating greaseballs anyhow: I've seen your iPhone screens around 3pm every day. It isn't pretty.

The great thing about WinMo is you can put nearly any program you can think of on it from nearly anywhere. The big problem with WinMo is you can put nearly any program you can think of on it from nearly anywhere. Somehow, eventually, that "neat clock theme" is going to make it so you have to hard reset your device just to get a button you can press again, or that awesome real time Facebook/Twitter client that also plays video is going to keep itself in memory when you least expect it and burn your battery down about an hour after you leave your house.

The apps you listed on WinMo are non-official hacked versions of various legality and stability. But I give you that point. An official app store prevents the more dubious hacked software from becoming noticed. However, you then can argue that a jailbroken iPhone has the same flexibility. Right now WinMo development is willy neally - the OS is so open anything goes. Android apps runs in a version of Java, Palm in WebOS, so for pure flexibility, WinMo has a clear advantage as not being in a sandbox. I hope you prepared when WinMo 7 is released for a very locked down platform with very specific hardware requirements. There will be Microsoft/Bing branded search, maps, online radio, music store and app store.
