I live around the corner from a Sonics here in Houston and they have a Blockbuster equivalent of the RedBox thing. I for one think this is a good start but the people working on it are somewhat clueless.

I talked with one of the reps who was getting "feedback" on the actual use and I suggested to him that Blockbuster take advantage of all their data information on consumer buying/viewing habits and incorporate that into their boxes. The guy looks at me blankly and says "Umm I don't know ... we're just starting but we have a lot of boxes in Florida and this is our first one in Houston." Then he smiles.

So I think to myself "Whatever, die already ..." If I knew the buying movie habits of thousands of people and had it narrowed down to certain movies and move types by various geographic locations then I'd sure as hell kick Redbox's ass by AT LEAST offering more relevant titles and not the SAME EXACT ONES!

Me

Comments on Blockbuster partnering with Motorola for OnDemand movies

Blockbuster + Motorola = EPIC FAIL!

Blockbuster needs to do us all a favor and go away.

kingbirdfivezero

Comments on Blockbuster partnering with Motorola for OnDemand movies

I see that my thoughts are not that original but I will add them anyway.

One of these companies will not be around in a few more months. While Motorola has been struggling for some time with its mobile phone division, my money in on Blockbuster either closing doors quietly or getting bought by another company that is falling from grace.

When your best strategy is to link up with a company that is not doing well, you are in trouble. Please tell me that you have something else up your sleeve.

If Blockbuster falls first, Motorola needs to take the sign as a warning and get serious. Do not link up with losers. If Moto falls first, Blockbusters needs to prepare for the inevitable. You guys are being pointlessly bitter over this without even seeing its outcomes. Oh just because the two companies had their bad days doesn't mean its going to be a failure. Remember Palm? Before the Pre, everyone(as in most tech bloggers) thought it was going to die off. When the Pre came, everyone started jumping on their middle fingers. This could be a good idea, considering what Moto is up to for Android(see hte Sholes). And a 3.7' screen isn't small. Don't let the bad reputation hinder your opinions.
