Depends on the machine. Still, netbooks have a long ways to go before they become all-purpose machines and re-integrate with the rest of the computer market. It's all just a phase; people will want their multi-core chips back, and sooner or later, Intel will move C2D chips on down, with Atom and ULV serving a niche market. At least, that's what I would want.

-BMF

Maccadude33

Comments on Lenovo's IdeaPad S12 with NVIDIA ION on hold pending Windows 7 debut

FWIW Adobe is working with NVidia to bring hardware acceleration support to Flash.

Also I think it would be a shame if Atom and the other lower end processors were relegated to a small niche. I've been waiting so long after that hype in January I'm not sure I even care anymore. NVidia, you failed me with your empty promises and continually slipping ship dates. Though I suspect Intel has a hand in it with their monopolistic lawsuits.

Either way, the CULV platform is starting to look like a mighty tempting second place. And a lot cheaper with the Inspiron 11z that just started to ship. Gonna wait for reviews of that thing before I pull the plug, though, as the battery life sounds disappointing. Ion will be slower due to the Atom but the video processing is compelling. Still, I'm starting to realize with my WD HD box that I don't need fast video processing on a portable device since the quality of the WD solution is extremely good. I could just lug that to a friend's house or anyplace with a television and enjoy all my movies from a usb stick. I don't need to watch movies that often...

Jason

Comments on Lenovo's IdeaPad S12 with NVIDIA ION on hold pending Windows 7 debut

with netbook like this, who needs Sony TT? :-)

idiscuss

Comments on Lenovo's IdeaPad S12 with NVIDIA ION on hold pending Windows 7 debut

People who want to view flash hd files, need wwan, hdmi, two SSD drives(instead of a optical drive), blu-ray or even a dvd drive on a small machine something a netbook does not offer. What a disaster. ION is no doubt delayed as they realise yet again they have a 8400-series debacle about to blow up (literally) in their faces. SSD prices still rigged to the tits, holding back the working man. Bezels are still fatter than Ballmers head, Windows 7 could have been released a year ago, the UK still gets raped on any prices and I am officially pissed at the world.
