Some of us don't have unlimited AV inputs and shelf space for every console ever made.

Luckily, old systems like the NES, SNES, N64, Genesis, etc are easily emulated on my HTPC. I'll give you that. Yes, PS2 had full BC. And initially PS3 had full BC. Obviously, it was a price issue for Sony, they decided to axe it. That was over 2 years ago. It's time to move on. As much as I would love a single box that does it all, in a less cluttered a/v cabinet, it's just not coming back.

It's easy for me to say this, I have a 20GB PS3 with full BC. And honestly, I could count the times I've played PS2 games on one hand. I've moved on from PS2. And for anyone to not buy the PS3 because of BC, is kind of silly. hmmmm, Batman Arkham Asylum for PS3 or .

I respect your PS2 love and wanting to do a, "your peanut butter in my chocoloate" routine with said consoles...but it will never happen. Same with my 360... Up until it got stolen, I owned a whole collection of original Xbox games, and I never touched one of them after about 5 times of playing Halo 2, and that was just to play against my cheapoid friends who couldn't afford 360s.

I have to agree with xcrunk, BC is a rarely used, rarely implemented (until recently) phenomenon. If you look back, consoles have NEVER been BC until the PS2, and then 5 years later with the 360, PS3, and Wii.

Think about it like this: With the $100 you saved buying a PS3 slim vs. the PS3 fat (pre-price drop), you could also own a brand new PS2, if that helps. But if you need to buy a new PS2, do you even have PS2 games? And then why are you complaining about BC if you already have a working conosle and working games? Clutter? Pfft!
