I fly over 200,000 miles a year. I am gone at times for 3 or 4 weeks. 10-36 hour flights at times. I can't carry all the reading material I would go through during that time. Not all international flights get power to the seats. A laptop simply would not have the battery power to make it through. I carry over 100 books and RSS news feeds on my e-book. It weighs ounces. And lasts for several full books before needing a recharge. The wireless features don't appeal to me. Being charged for free news feeds can add up in a hurry. I can pop the SD card into my laptop whenever I am connected and download everything I need quickly. To me, an e-book is a great tool for travel.

Content is an issue for many people. Kindle has the Amazon store locked up. But Mobi Pocket has been around forever with great selection. Being owned by Amazon is a convert. But for now, it is still very easy to get the latest titles through Mobi Pocket. My Cybook 3 handles all this with ease. I'll have to see what Sony brings to the table other than name.

terry

Comments on Sony teases Daily Edition Reader, announcement imminent

That "pocket edition" doesn't look like it fits in a pocket to me.

stromm
