The lack of live view is really no big deal.  I thought it would bother me after using a point and shoot for a few years, but going back to using a viewfinder and actually controlling the camera more is quite refreshing. Nikon never intends for this camera to be part of their pro line, same as Canon doesn't intend for thier Rebel to be a pro camera.
