That would allow the 18MP sensor to make sense. Putting 15MP on an APS-C for the 50D ended up with a lot of people shouting that they lost image quality from the 10MP 40D, so I have my doubts that they could get a clean 18MP on APS-C. My guess is that it will do super clean 18MP/8fps in APS-H format (close to 5DmkII for landscape/portrait shots) and 8MP/18fps in APS-C (crazy fast and just big enough for sports) with a price closer to the 5DmkII end. Who knows, though - we'll find out on Tuesday :-)

JB

Comments on Purported Canon EOS 7D poster, lenses turn up online

APS-H would be really interesting, but the lens mount seems odd. I was thinking it would be closer to 6.3 looking at that poster. 8fps @ 18MP w/ APS-H would canibalize the 1DMkIII to no end!!!!! This is pure speculation, but looking at the pictures of the lenses, (supposing the images are to scale with each other) the 15-85mm lens seems to have a larger diameter than the 18-135. This could be to accommodate the APS-H sensor size without too much vignetting. Though this could also be due to the wider angle capabilities of the lens and therefore my rather tenuous wishful thinking would be moot!

Solid Gray Fox

Comments on Purported Canon EOS 7D poster, lenses turn up online

I was hoping for a mid-range, lower resolution FF sensor. I have the 5dMK2, but it would be nice to have 18mp combined with the 8FPS and 19 point AF. the AF and fps on the 5dMK2 is slow but managable - i would give up some MP for faster AF and faster FPS.
