Apple holding 'rock and roll' themed event, September 9th

A look back on popular stories from today in a specific year.

Now that we've thrown 'em off the trail, use the form below to get in touch with the people at Engadget. Please fill in all of the required fields because they're required.
That girl looks like she's about to eat it...
Or just taken a shot at goal. One of the two.
True, I don't see any possible way for that position to end well for her.
Is it wrong that my mind immediately misconstrued both "eating it" and "taken a shot?"
Nah I'm thinking she is currently in the process of falling down the stairs.
C'mon 32GB Nano.
that's what she said
NOM NOM NOM NOM.
'it's ONLY rock and roll' ?
that statement comes off as condescending to me for some reason.
New iPod Nano, the first music player with Rock and Roll!
I'm wondering how she's getting those crappy earbuds to stay in so well while thrashing about like that.
iGlue?
@Konshuss
It's from a Stones song, so if you find that condescending, you obviously don't know much about rock 'n' roll. Just saying.
whoops an honest mistake. however i'm still firm that when apple says it, it sounds condescending. low rank your little hearts out.
Consider it done.
KISS!?
Err, Rolling Stones dumbass.
...? O_O
I'm glad he took the time to call himself a dumbass, it saved us all the trouble.
I could be mistaken, but I believe the 9th is the day the new Beatles remasters debut on iTunes
Sometimes even Engadget should hold a "Rock and [T]roll Event" like these instead of the regular "Recession Antidotes" and "... Giveaways".
@Zak, isn't it ironic how the WinDouches will throw a hissy fit if you say ANYTHING in a Zune HD thread, but they can say whatever they want in iPod threads and you're not allowed to defend it? I mean come on, I'm an MS fan too, but come on guys...this just makes you look insecure.
New iPod Touch with Camera followed by... um... err...
Thank you.
Yes, it's an iPod event. You were expecting what else, exactly, at an iPod event? I do expect that there will be other iPod related announcements though, like the Beatles on iTunes. This is also Apple's opportunity to outshine the Zune HD by announcing a 64GB iPod Touch along with the standard price drop across the line.
Followed by new "updated" Nanos. I'm guessing this year's new "feature" will be a bigger screen and 37 new shades of pink.
new iPod Shuffle. it doesn't actually have any buttons, it just constantly plays and guesses what song you want.
@Phoenix: No, you're not thinking revolutionary enough. It'll be a new iPod shuffle that doesn't actually exist. You just pay them $50 and then you imagine the music playing in your head.
If they are announcing the Beatles on iTunes, it was a little weird to be quoting a Rolling Stones song in the announcement.
does anybody reading engadget (within the 18-34 demog) seriously give a shit about the Beatles on Itunes? That said, a Nano with a bigger screen would be nice. 32GB at $200 is probably too much to ask for, but you never know.
Do you think Engadget's demographic age group are the only people who buy iPods? Or that Apple is holding this event specifically for Engadget readers? Engadget is going to cover it because it's a gadget related event. They don't have any control over what Apple is going to announce.
As for the rest of the Apple-hating tards in this thread, do you just not like price cuts, or larger capacities, or what? I'm having trouble figuring out what you guys are bitching about, exactly. Oh wait that's right, I forgot. You don't need a reason to bitch about Apple. Because you're tards. Seriously, only tards could bitch and cry as much as you tards do when Apple does things like reduce prices, announce new content and up the hardware stats of their products.
Mmm yes, more Zak replies with rhetorical questions. This is good. Keep them coming.
@Zak: Methinks the lady dost protest too much. Nobody here I've seen has been bashing Apple or complaining about them. Some comments about the ads being overdone, sure, but nothing I can see that should make you so angry.
^doth, damnit! doth!
What rhetorical questions? I asked what you guys are bitching about. Please feel free to answer.
New iPod Touch, refreshed nanos (both with higher capacities, including 64GB touch), possibly some little new feature that will send Apple fans into nerdgasms. There ya go, predicted the whole event for you ;)
@ichheissesuperfantastisch: More people care about the Beatles on iTunes than your rehashed opinion that it isn't important. Seriously, enough people have weighed in on the importance of that band on that platform already. Your post is less important to people than the topic you think shouldn't matter to other people.
Nice of you to decide what everyone else should care about, though. I'm guessing you're in your early 20s, white male, PC gamer, single, and you think we should just get rid of all the stupid people out there, right? I can't wait to hear what you think about family guy and which comic book movie was best.
Zak, we just point and laugh at you evberybody-except-Apple-hating tards who think that innovation is adding more memory to an iPod.
You talk about people "bitching" and "crying" and yet, you were the very first one in this thread to bring up the Zune. HD Radio and true HD ouput is added to the Zune, and "Apple tards" bitch and complain that it is fraud to include HD in the name. OLED screens are used in the screen of the Zune, and the "Apple tards" bitch and cry that OLED is not that great a technology. The Zune have apps, and the "Apple tards" bitch and cry that somehow a computing platform being programmable is an idea wholly conceived by Apple. The Zune has a store, and the "Apple tards" bitch and cry that in the 20,000+ year history of humanity, no single person has traded goods and services - be that a chicken, squash, or even in today's terms money for a chicken, squash, or money.
As I have wrote before, I do not believe that Apple will be releasing the Beatles on iTunes during this press conference - it has to do with the timing of Michael Jackson's death, the person who owns the Beatles catalog, and the last Apple press conference. This is not bitching and crying about Apple, the only criticisms is that we have been hearing that the Beatles will be on iTunes for, oh I don't know, like 8 years now.
We are not bitching and complaining about a ***possible*** price redustion. The issue is the "Apple tards," after hearing the price of the Zune, immediately the rumors were the iTouch were dropping in price to match the Zune, increasing in memory, and getting a camera which the Zune HD doesn't have but it does have a radio, which is so last year, nobody ever wants to listen to radio.
So stop your bitching and crying, you Apple tard.
joe you were describing me.
u forgot to add only listens to "techno"
If we're tards, then you're an iTard
@Mikey M: "a little weird to be quoting a Rolling Stones song in the announcement."
Sort of like when Bill Gates used the Stones for Windows 95? Start me up! FTW!
Can't s/w CEOs just face it--all they know to be cool are: the Beatles and the Stones.
With that point, using the Stones as a promo is like a death-wish for s/w companies. Apple fans, this is just the beginning of the end.
I love how Zak will stick around for hours together if he has the smallest of chances to fling personal insults around, but will disappear without a trace when someone posts a point by point rebuttal.
is is a coincidence that the beatles rockband is coming the same day? hmmm...
Apple Corps Ltd and EMI are also re-releasing the entire back catalogue on 09/09/09 aswell.
Remastered catalog.
There's been rumors, so I wouldn't doubt it.
GO BEATLES CATALOGUE ON ITUNES!!!... I hope the new touch is on par with Zune HD.
Number 9... Number 9... Number 9...
Great!
Gah! That day will decide whether I'm getting the Zune HD or not. Gonna be a tough day.
Is Apples falling...?
Hoping for a 32gb nano.
