You're acting just incredibly stupid. Get over yourselves. Your constant whining and bitching about this one technology is making you look less and less intelligent.

Both technologies have their advantages. You honestly can't figure out the advantages in resistive technology? Try making detailed drawings, mathematical calculations or editing Excel cells with a capacitive one.

A great deal of people also live in a cold climate for many months in a year. Resistive technology operates well in cold temperatures and you can use it with your slim gloves on. Well ok, with capacitive you can always use your nose tip if you have gloves on.

Resistive also offers much more options for game developers and developers in general. Think of all the DS games if they were designed for only finger use.. ugh..

And one last thing: latest Nokia resistive touch screens ARE well enough responsive. On many occasions capacitive can be too responsive: sometimes you select icons which you didnt intend to, just because your finger mistakenly touched the surface.

Jooseppi

Comments on Nokia's 32GB Alvin RM-559 hits FCC, Simon 561 and Theodore 563 nowhere to be found

iLoveApple, I personally find iPhone a bit hard to use since it doesn't react when it touch it using my fingernail. I love capacitive screens. I would never buy a resistive screen phone = I would never buy a Nokia touchscreen phone. For this time Nokia had luck and get my money for the N86, but next time I will definetly buy a touchscreen phone and it could be Nokia if they invet capacitive screens.
Exel on such a display? Naturally you dont do HEAVY Excel work on a mobile phone, no-one's that masochistic. But for many, who need a pocketable mobile office, light Excel editing is a great feature to have.

Apple App Store games are simply incredible, I aint denying that. But yes, you CAN make better games on resistive screens since you have more space for developer's imagination. Resistive offers more options. Take Nintendo DS games for example. Many of the games are so great for the fact that you can operate them with the stylus. Fingers simply have too much surface area.

You can achieve the Apple appstore gameplay with a resistive screen since resistive is finger friendly and responsive. The reason App Store has hundreds of amazing games has nothing do with capacitive technology. The reason is Apple's ingenious eco system.

Jooseppi

Comments on Nokia's 32GB Alvin RM-559 hits FCC, Simon 561 and Theodore 563 nowhere to be found

Alvin and the chipmunks?

Matt

Comments on Nokia's 32GB Alvin RM-559 hits FCC, Simon 561 and Theodore 563 nowhere to be found

i think those trio are music phones.....

reyq_yh

Comments on Nokia's 32GB Alvin RM-559 hits FCC, Simon 561 and Theodore 563 nowhere to be found

I love all the nitwits and Apple trolls and Nokia haters that have owned 2+ year old resistive touch screen phones then went to the I-phone and suddenly want to push that experience on everyone else in their statements like:

"I would never buy a resistive phone"

This person has likely never used a modern resistive phone from Nokia. I can type just as fast on my Nokia 5800 XM (maybe faster) then I ever could on my Iphone 3g, no stupid auto correction required.

"Capacitive is way better, I don't understand why Nokia doesn't get it"

See above, except that I can do it with gloves on, with 1 hand, or with a pen, stylus, plectrum, random office gadget. Really useful when your trying to input data into fields way too complex for gumby finger interaction. Ever tried writing an equation, working a spreadsheet, doing a quick drawing (like annotating a map)? Yeah, you think picture editing works well on the Iphone, you should give it a shot on a Nokia with a stylus, it works great! (especially since you can select a finer point then your finger).

"Nokia's App store is nothing compared to my Apple! I need an App store"

I guess Nokia must appeal to a more intelligent audience, that's the only conclusion I can come up with. You do realize that the Ovi store is just one of 1000s of places Nokia users are able to download software. We also are able to do this with no input, censoring, or back door bullshit from our phone manufacturer or telco. No jail breaking, rooting, ect required. Someone wants to make an App for a nokia phone? Do it, and sell it, and you don't even need Apples permission *gasp*

I'm not saying capacitive screens and let's just say it, Iphones, don't have some advantages, they do. There are some things being developed to allow other things to interface with Capacitive screens, but nothing is out there yet, so until then... we want our resistive screens, no one is saying you need to buy one, but seriously, quit acting like your Iphone owning, App store downloading ass is the only one that uses Touch screen phones.

There's a reason why Nokia sells more XM 5800's in 6 months (Iphone isn't even top 3 world wide) then Apple has sold I-phones of any model ever, many asian countries use handwriting recognition for a variety of reasons on their handsets. You want to try writing Kanji using your goober, yuppie she-man fingers on your Iphone?

You guys are like Jehova's Fing Witnesses, we don't want your capacitive screens! Are we going to burn in Apple hades for it? Fine! At least I'll die knowing I had a job that didn't involve maxing out my credit card to by gay looking berets and starbucks coffee typing as loud as I can on my Mac book so people notice how much of an "author" I am.

tampa03cobra
