Why didn't Mitsubishi just offer Netflix, so they could be the first TV with built in Netflix streaming. I know the argument goes that you can't get 1080p on Netlfix, but frankly I'd rather have the catalogue Netflix offers than pay extra for Vudu service.

sylinen

Comments on Mitsubishi now shipping VUDU powered 1080p streaming HDTVs

I hate to sound negative, but, I am of the opinion that streaming Netflix and similar pay services, whether it be wireless or by Ethernet via a BD player, PS3, XBOX360, VUDU, or other separtely purchased equipment is still very much in the development stage. From what I have read and actually seen over the past few months, the HD quality that is emitted lacks exactly that. What's more, to claim that its in 1080p should be a crime. Mitsubishi's or any other manufacturer integrating this kind of stuff and hyping it as a feature should be enough to steer anyone completely away from the notion of purchasing it. I understand there are those who, like me, crave the latest and greatest... but this is rediculous.

Jon

Comments on Mitsubishi now shipping VUDU powered 1080p streaming HDTVs

You shouldn't judge the TV off of "silly features"...if you did, you wouldn't buy one. How ridiculous are the "widgets" offered on most high-end tvs right now? I was just researching and viewing TVs at a high-end store because I need to replace a stolen TV, and if you like LCD (obviously if you prefer the "plasma" look, this is not for you) this year's Mitsubishis are fantastic. This was right next to the Samsung B750, same settings, and there was no comparison. I stepped back and was able to view it in the middle of two very high-end plasmas (samsung860 and Panasonic G15 or something) and I couldn't take my eyes of the Mitsubishi. And SD content? Forget about it...there was no comparison, so much better (detail wise) on the Mitsubishi.

I tend to be a viewer that likes the "pop" of an LCD as opposed to the muted "natural" look of the plasma, so that's just a personal preference. In the LCD world, I think Mitsubishi just made incredible strides against Samsung and Sony for the top spot. I made the purchase on picture quality (and control...unmatched)...and didn't even factor in the ridiculous sound disparity between the TVs.

The "extras"? who the hell cares.

Brian
