Besides, is a monitor's form not infact it's function? Unlike the rest of a computer's components, a monitor is meant to be looked at. If you are going to stare at a screen all day, it may as well be fun to look at. I also find that I am more productive on a cleaner desk. And change is what technology is all about. Manufacturers have to keep changing their product so that customers will be enticed to update. The latest and greatest start off expensive, but as time goes on they become the standard and become affordable. 10 years ago desktop PC's came with 64mb of RAM and a 60gb HD and cost around $1,500.. now you can get a laptop 4gb RAM and a 320gb HD for $600. In 5 years we'll all be using large capacity SSDs and uber thin monitors just like this as a standard. =) Just wait til it's cheaper.

Sandi

Comments on ASUS Designo MS Series is 16.5mm thin, venerates form over function

Certainly design is important, but for this series of monitors it does hamper function - ergonomics. The design means no tilt and pivot, which is common on higher-end monitors. That said, most monitors in its presumed price range would also lack such functionality, and even monitors in higher price brackets lack adjustments (Apple Displays in particular).

Ypoknons

Comments on ASUS Designo MS Series is 16.5mm thin, venerates form over function

Wake me when somebody produces an all-in-one without cheap plastic chrome or piano black bezel.

This thing is ugly.

underwhelmed

Comments on ASUS Designo MS Series is 16.5mm thin, venerates form over function

It's also not an all-in-one.

simbr

Comments on ASUS Designo MS Series is 16.5mm thin, venerates form over function

...
