VZW broke away from the road it was on with Sprint by being the first to announce it was going with LTE along with Vodafone and China Mobile aka the rest of the World.

Sprint is still trying to figure out what to do with iDen. Fortunately for Sprint they can bail on Wimax at anytime since they basically just lease the Wimax network from Clearwire. I predict Sprint jumping to LTE and dumping Wimax in 2-3 years, if they stay in business that long. Lets just say they picked the wrong horse and they already know it...

ir1

Comments on Sprint's Dan Hesse talks Android, Pre, iPhone, 4G on Charlie Rose

@irj Clearwire and sprint are partners i don't think they are just going to abandon WIMAX for LTE.

I am going to jump aboard when WIMAX comes to grand rapids. They are about stability. Customers are willing to pay $70 a month, every month vs paying $40, then $100, then $70, then $60. It is the same reason we have insurance: people like consistent; the hate surprises.

And from Sprint's point of view, it is marginal for them to provide you minute 1 on your plan or minute 1,500. They know if people were charged on a per minute basis, they would use less minutes and play less for their plan, but Sprint would still have to maintain and operate that network regardless. Why not get some usage and revenue out of the network.

ahow628

Comments on Sprint's Dan Hesse talks Android, Pre, iPhone, 4G on Charlie Rose

Charlie Rose FTW!

3D
