A bit of Japanese in a nutshell: There are 3 scripts: 2 syllabaries Hiragana and Katakana, and Kanji which stands for parts of words by meaning. Katakana is reserved for foreign words (Steak becomes Suteeki, Ice cream becomes Aisukuriimu, Hotel becomes Hoteru) and for sound effects, and a few other uses.

Sarugeccho and Hasuruukingu are in Katakana, and I assume they are foreign words. However, I do know there are some weirdo things the Japanese do, like make random titles in Katakana for no apparent reason, or state character names in anime/manga in Katakana...
