While interesting, are there any actual pictures of this thing anywhere or just fake 3D renderings on real backgrounds? "No new technology shall have mass appeal if, no matter how useful, it makes the user look like an idiot..."

I am sure the point of this device is "augmented reality", but this borg-like contraption will never see commercial success because you would look like a major geek wearing it and women would most likely never speak to you.

Augmented reality will work when they can take a simple pair of glasses and, using OLED, have one of the lenses be a video screen, visible only to the user. That or contact lenses which do the same (the ultimate solution).

It can get very interesting from there... if the military is using it in the battlefield then the soldiers can pretend they're back in their momma's living room playing Xbox360 and just look for the HUD AR indicators with the highest kill points.

...if it's coming to hospitals and the surgeons are using it then it can come with zoom functions and HUD AR that shows "slice here dummy." In fact, it can be branded by IDG Books as "The Surgeon for Dummies HUD" book series.

ok, now that your tongue has been placed firmly in cheek. I think there is some grain of "reality" to the scenarios I just described.

I tried one of these out at Microsoft Tech Ed. It worked great, including the best voice command recognition I have ever seen (spoken to?).

That night at the hotel I put in buy orders for 10,000 shares of KOPN. Have not looked back.

But still no use I can think of other than a "gadget". Certainly couldn't use it while driving for heads-up GPS.
