They were driver issues.

Although I admit I'm a little worried about whether the TP2 will be able to handle full flash when Adobe finally releases it, the phone as-is is snappy and more than fast enough for all of my other uses.

Also, depending several factors, this processor can be overclocked more than 200mhz. Developer is still trying to understand and address some people's less stable configurations, but others have very stable performance already. http://www.nuerom.com/BlogEngine/post/2009/09/08/Yet-more-notes-on-overclocking.aspx

mian

Comments on How would you change HTC's Touch Pro2?

I cringed when I first heard this phone was getting the standard issue Qualcomm 528mhz cpu. Then I tried the phone and I was pleasantly surprised. They fixed the bottleneck on this CPU and got the drivers right. It's super fast and blows the doors off my Advantage 7501x (624mhz xScale). I handles DVD rips no problem and 3D games (like Xtrak) run great.

Still, it has it's flaws. The biggest to me being the lack of a D-pad. You know why people hate D-Pads? Cause manufacturers kept adding these terrible unergonomic d-pads onto practically every phone. It put a bad taste in most peoples mouths. If they gave us a real d-pad that resembled anything found on a real joystick, people would use the d-pad a lot more. Hopefully the d-pad on the Motorola Cliq will be as useful as it looks.

ravicai

Comments on How would you change HTC's Touch Pro2?

More cowbell!

kryogenix1

Comments on How would you change HTC's Touch Pro2?

Put Android on it.

sjones411

Comments on How would you change HTC's Touch Pro2?

You mean WinMo 7 right?

Quikboy

Comments on How would you change HTC's Touch Pro2?

Lower the price Sprint!!!!!

bethea.walter

Comments on How would you change HTC's Touch Pro2?

Someone should run the Acid3 test, on the WinMo 6.5 Mobile IE browser & post the results here. This is a business class phone and they market it as just that. Android isn't there yet--maybe version 2. maybe 3. But putting Android on this phone over WinMo would be a huge mistake--right now--and they know it.

If you're a serious business user and heavily rely on having your email, calendar, contacts & everything in sync at all times, Android can't do that for ya yet buddy. Blackberry & Winmo are business-focused devices. Android & iPhone have potential to take over the business markets but not there yet.

To answer the main question, I miss having more physical buttons that I can use for 4 of my most frequently used apps. AND a dedicated VoiceCommand / voice control button like most Windows Mobile devices have. I hate having to look at the screen every time I want to open Contacts, Calendar, Tasks or eWallet. That's one silly "trend" that all device manufacturers are following--removal of all buttons, and it drives me crazy. Believe it or not, people still like to be able to quickly launch a program/feature WITHOUT having to look at the screen. It's faster. And physical buttons is the only way to accomplish that aside from mind control. Something we're not even close to seeing.

Anyway enough ranting. The TouchPro 2 is great for me right now. I'm aware of the shortcomings of Windows Mobile 6.1, but 7 is right around the corner (and we've been patient enough).

On a sidenote, if the d*** iPhone had a slide out keyboard, they would have a much bigger piece of the business market. iPhone DOES have Exchange support, now, something that most (serious) companies have these days. But it doesn't have physical keyboard. But anyone who has followed HTC for the past three years knows that they've been a company in the making. From the very beginning they were always trying to pack more technology into the space provided regardless of whether it performed well or not. Well, for the first time in HTC history, they've done it! HTC has learned from its past mistakes and they've done a killer job at nailing a first rate device with all the bells and whistles right out of the box. Not to mention the fact that they even had the forethought to install "QuickGPS" on the Verizon Wireless models so that you could use the built in GPS with Google Maps or any other navigation program you like. Verizon also didn't stand in way like they usually do and make HTC cripple the GPS. The only thing Verizon Wireless hasn't done is made their aGPS servers that are on the verizon network available to the public ... so HTC went ahead and loaded QuickGPS (which accesses a third party aGPS database to allow the onboard GPS to attain a much faster position fix). Within 10 seconds of launching Google Maps I know exactly where I am within a few feet, it's great!

I'm very impressed with this device and am recommending it to all of my users who are up for contract renewals.

Best regards,
Brad

Inpho Sys

Comments on How would you change HTC's Touch Pro2?

Look like the HTC LEO with keyboard.

§?¾

Comments on How would you change HTC's Touch Pro2?

How bout some actual storage space.

LowTeckh

Comments on How would you change HTC's Touch Pro2?

Well it needs a laser pointer.
