Acer A1 Android phone listed for pre-order with 768MHz processor
We'd been hearing that Acer's Android-based A1 smartphone would be hitting this month, and while we still haven't heard anything official, it's just gone up for pre-order at Expansys. The spec sheet is rather intriguing, since it lists Android 2.0 Donut and a 768MHz Qualcomm 8250 processor, which is a 240MHz bump over every other Android set on the market right now. Pre-orders aren't insane at €389 ($571), but we'll see what official pricing and carrier support look like before we reach for our wallets.

C'mon AT&T. Give us loyal subscribers some decent Android lovin'!
Interesting how the Hero already fell from $568.50 to $515.50 in one of my favorite online stores. If anything, the release of new Android models will bring down prices for the older ones :)
Which store might this be? I'd like to purchase.
I don't think Engadget allows posting direct links because it would be spamming/advertising. Just Google for Negri... ;)
What store might that be? :)
Hahahaha... Expansys Preorders. There is a reliable source. It's like quoting the national enquirer of smartphones.
I waited over a year for my preordered Motorola MPx.
I don't get it. Why do you need to wait for carrier support?
Is this some crazy US thing that will make no sense to people who live elsewhere?
Is it me or is the phone a bit big (height & width) despite being thin?
2.0 is scheduled to be Eclair.
The 8250 at 768Mhz is likely underclocked, it's a Snapdragon chip with a max frequency of 1000mhz. FWIW, all of those 7201's at rated at 528mhz but they are always clocked at 384Mhz. This is the first Snapdragon 1Ghz Android phone to the market!
Nice !
And low priced.
However i cannot let the c&d against cyanogen slip by. Did you know we legally cannot copy back gmail and gtalk after changing the rom ? So ridiculous.

Does anybody know when moblin mobile phones will be available ?
Apparently Cyanogen will be releasing a reasonable workaround to the situation this week:

more and more android based phone i hope the appstore can grow rapidly
Donut is a codename, just like cupcake.
Cupcake = 1.5
Donut = 1.6
Eclair should be 2.0 and Flan should be I guess greater then 2.0. But we'll see.
Nice design,I've been looking for to Acer smartphone!,But it looks a little bit expensive.

Is this the only Android phone that supports 850/1900/2100 HSPA? I need one that works in Asia and the U.S.
