First of all, they do not list the specific MIL-STD method, which states the kind of tests these devices have been through. At the end of the day, does it really matter if they are military grade or not? How often does a cap or transistor fail on your mother board? Generally, the items that fail are external, hard drive, processor, memory, and video card. However, getting a cheap mother board is just as bad. Definitely, don't cheap out on the MB, but you do not have to buy the most expensive one either.

Caps are cheap, but as long as they are made from porcelain or ceramic, you should not have an issue. MOSFET/transistors are not going to be much better if they are mil speced or not. The Engineering company I work for manufacturers military products that use these devices and none of our products use Mil-Std transistors in the design and they work fine. (Note the end product as a whole generally needs to pass some Mil-Std specifications, vibration, heat, etc).

Mopo

Comments on ASUS intros first 'Marine Cool' motherboard, the SABERTOOTH 55i

Overclockers need quality caps as they push the boards past normal specs.
