Really? Seriously? Since when has Microsoft ever been browbeat into charging less for something other than normal market pricing points throughout the software life cycle?

Apple pricing through the years? Nope.
Things like BeOS? Nope.
EVERY flavor of Linux? Nope.
Open Office? Nope.
Porn Videos? Nope.

While I would love to see the pricing come down, and IMHO google is likely the only one big enough to get it done, it is VERY unlikely it will happen anytime soon. Maybe in 3-5 years if ChromeOS has the staying power and people don't hate it for the usual linux** reasons. Then it might put a dent in Microsoft Windows 8,9,Global Edition, whatever.

Whilst it would probably be good for the market fir there to be another big player I can't help and think that Chrome OS and Android just won't get the updates they require at the rate they need and will be left at the wayside only being used by a cult group of developers and fanboys.

What you are saying is "Firefox is only better beacuse it has a ton of add ons that allow you to customize it to better fit the needs of each individually user. increasing effeciancy, security, aesthetics, etc...... Take that away and you have chrome"

To me, the real thing IS the linux version. I get frustrated on my work computer (winXP) because there isn't a windows equivalent to the linux-based tool I want to use. Plus it's so much easier to find linux software thanks to GUI repository managers (if you don't know what I'm talking about, think app store, but way more powerful, functional, and inclusive).
