However, there is clearly scenarios where you don't have a box to put a video card into, just a monitor you want hooked up. Still, I bet you can find a monitor that supported regular DP for cheaper than this device. Plus, they cost at most, $20! I bought a cable that converts mini-DP to DP for my dell monitor and it works great. Went on eBay and bought an NVIDIA GeForce GT 120 for my Mac Pro.<br>Cost me less than £70 and has a DVI and a DP port on it so I get the best of both worlds. I'm guessing it must be HDCP compliant.<br><br>All this crazy expensive adaptor business is a nightmare. I remember when I had to buy an ADC/DVI adaptor. Cost me over £100 and all because Apple phased out a technology that they invented themselves. The Cinema Display uses an H-IPS panel, most cheaper displays use cheaper, shittier panels and don't have LED backlighting. First and absolutely foremost; Macbook pro owners cannot switch out thier video card. Its that simple. So if you purchased your Mac before 2009, you are not going to be able to use the new Cinema Displays at all, unless of course you use the Atlona DP200. Secondly the average cost for a viable Displayport card with an actual DisplayPort output is about $300.
