It looks like they did do some customizations, like the dock on the bottom and the 3D UI. I'm wary (see some of my previous comments) about getting another LG, but if they manage to price this right, I might give it a whirl.

Out of interest, with a Windows Mobile, you had a neat little xml file (or editor, nowadays!) where you could add all kinds of stuff to the homescreen. Time/date, sms count, todo list, etc. Where and when, and HOW SMALL you wanted it.
so, for example, rather than having a megaton clock, and enough space for the menu button, you could have everything in a neat little package.

Just wondering if you can do the same on Android.

And, even more importantly, can you have a small font, too, so's I can read more than 3 words of my text/email on the screen at once?

Damn, it's so pathetic having a 240x400 screen, and yet still having to SCROLL through a single sms!
