Sure, the boom offers similar features, but I want to replace my bedside radio with something that will usually have headphones (actually a pillow speaker) hooked up to it. The boom can do this, but I'd be paying $100 more for speakers I wouldn't use anyway. I see my Tivoli radio being replaced by this.

Sony makes the best and most intuitive clock radios, and until Sony makes a WiFi Radio/Dream Machine, I suspect the rest will be wanting for the very reasons you cite.

Also, I am a light sleeper and it would need to have the screen dim to almost black for me to be able to deal with it in a dark bedroom at night.

The giant know is the snooze button.

Loudness of the Alarm?
You set it to whatever volume you want and can even set it to slowly fade in.

Snooze feature?
Yes, you can even configure the length of the snooze.

Sleep timer/auto off?
Yes, you set it to sleep at and of song, or in 15 minute increments up to 90 minutes.

If you already run the latest Squeezebox Server for your SB2, all the alarm features are the same.
