That said, I'm sick of people using the term "luxury" when relating to computer equipment, especially when it relates to a product whose design was entirely done by another company. It's pretty pathetic that Apple's rather spartan demeanor is what passes for "design" these days, and even more so, as a design worth ripping off. I could say the same thing about buying an MBP.
I had a Mac for 6 months. I LOVED the hardware (except for the lack of a dedicated right mouse button and the lack of PgUp/Down, Home and End Keys) but I HATED Mac OS X. sad that most companies selling laptops/desktops make a new machine suck so bad.

again, apple does NOT include bloatware when they ship. perhaps another reason why mac users are sold from day one.

i'm a hybrid user; windows, mac, and linux. but when i got my macbook air; it booted up to the desktop in 40secs (ssd) and no bloatware.

my hp dv6700t; struggled to the desktop in 1min and this was a powerful notebook too (penryn 2.5ghz, t9300). but once cleaned up, 40secs.

When giving Powerpoint presentations, the connectors often still seem to be VGA. At least, that is my experience. For what it's worth, I have a Macbook and a PC desktop (I'm no fanboy). If anyone is considering the Macbook... the trackpad is what puts it over the top. When I use other laptops, my fingers just naturally want to do the smooth gestures that are so well refined on the Mac. The trackpad on the Mac is unbelievable. It's multi-touch. One finger clicking is a left click, two fingers is a right click. Two finger scrolling (vertical and horizontal).

I run Windows 7 in boot camp and it screams. Only driver issue is, ironically, the touchpad. Two finger scrolling is just to sensitive for practical use.

People talk about the "Apple tax", I just don't see it here when comparing to the 13" HP Envy. HDMI, Nvidia 9500 SLI, e-sata port, VGA and a display port (I think)
And yes, it boots in under 30s.
